How can anyone possibly think that Israel's war is only against Hezbollah, or that the Lebanese would rise up against Hezbollah? This indiscriminant and purposeful targeting of strictly CIVILIAN resources is an affront to any kind of common decency.
The difference between Hezbollah and Israeli attacks is that Hezbollah's rockets are dumb, aimed only by looking at a map and putting a finder to the wind. Israel's, on the other hand, are calculated "precision" attacks using GPS and Lasers for pinpoint guidance. Hezbollah, in a way, gets a sort of pass, whereas Israel is completely to blame for every single structure it destroys. Zionism= Racism.

While I have to agree with you on the fact that I don't think Hizballah doesn't care about the people, I don't think you should go about cursing with anger (although you have every right too). I think that is the problem, everyone is too pissed off. What we really need is to just calm down and make peaceful resolutions. If we just continue to hate one another and no one backs down to talk, the entire world is just going to keep regressing and we will never more forward. I take this idea to heart and apply it too all of our stupid, self-serving leaders, all of them - Isreal, Hisballah, and USA. Everyone.
There is a big difference between deliberately targeting infrastructure that allows Hezbollah to rearm, which may cause civilian causuatlies and inconvenience commuters, and throwing rockets blindly to kill women and children. Hezbollah wants to kill innocents, or they would target the military, and infrastructure. They want to "terrorize" the innocent civilians, that is their goal. THere is a HUGE difference between them and the Israelis. IF they would fight according to the Geneva convention, then you would see civilian causualties plummet.
Are you nuts??? Its the Lebanese who drop like the flies (over 900 now). Flattening entire urban areas serves preventing Hezbollah from arming??? Destroying the entire civilian infrastructure and starving the Lebanese population helps fighting terrorism??? Did you now that that the Israeli repeatedly hit fleeing people in their cars, aid convoys, ambulances, UN observers??? Did you know that one third of the killed are Lebanese children??? Did you now that now all major roads and bridges are destroyed and people in many areas have no longer enough food or drinking water??? Did you know that the Israelis hit power plants and fuel depots and the population has no longer enough electricity (no air conditioning in 40° Celsius) and petrol for their cars??? Did you know that the Israeli are preventing a tanker ship with petrol from entering the harbour for the past three days??? Did you know that the bridges they hit today was supposed to be the humanitarian corridor they promised to keep open???

Bombing bridges and roads in Jounieh and Byblos, the heart of the chritian areas in Lebanon has nothing to do with targeting hezbollah, it has everything to do with israels hatred of Lebanon and its attempts to destroy the country and its infrastructure and kill its people. When you think about it, there are more hezbollah members and supporters here in the US then in Jounieh and Byblos. Just another reminder of Israels savagery and hainous campaign that aims to destroy the country without putting a single dent in hezbollahs capacities. It looks like, the interests of Israel, Syria and Iran met over the destruction of Lebanon and that's what's happening.

Department of Homeland Security is well aware that (c). At this moment we are preparing them to be shipped back to Lebanon. We feel that they should fight their enemy there. We also know they like to hide behind civilians. So lets they do it behind THEIR civilians.
If the Lebanese really believe that the Israelis will destroy the whole country while fighting Hezbollah, why not either have the Lebanese stop Hezbollah from firing missiles, or tell the UN how to stop Hezbollah. Why do the Lebanese allow Hezbollah to use their country as a lauching pad for missiles that also kill innocents in Israel?

It is so frustrating to argue with people who blame the victime for the crime committed against them. I am disgusted at the logic that it is OK to kill civilians and destroy the infrastructure of a whole country under the pretext that a militia is "mingling witht the civilians". All of a sudden the clock for all the problems in the middle east start on July 12th, while ignoring the many years of israeli occupation which is illegal by international law.
Respect to UN resolutions is crucial when it comes to 1559, while israel ignored over 20 resolutions over the course of some 38 years of occupation, and of course this is not even mentioned in the western media. Hijacking public opinion in the west has been so effective, helped by an under informed (and quite frankly undereducated) middle class in the US. Since 911, the media in the US (which is effectively and israeli occupied territory when it comes to midlle east policy) started portraying the resistance to occupation as terrorism (I am sure the french resistance to german occupation was considered terrorism by Nazi germany). Moreover when the IRA in ireland conducted military operations against the UK, I didn't see the royal army destroying Ireland's infrastructure and killing hundreds of civilians with precision guided missiles, and performing ethnic cleansing under that pretext. I guess the Britts are not after all " God's chosen people" so they don't have the right like Israel claims it does, to decide when innocent people should be sentenced to die. What's behind all this is the Litani river's water and the building of more and more colonies (Oh excuse my political incorrectness, I should say "settlements" or better "neighborhoods" as mentioned by CNN.) Call and write your Representatives and demand that all aid to Israel be diverted to the rehabilitation of Lebanon.

- in 1983, after the attack on the Marines barracks, President Reagan ordered the Marines to wipe out Hezbollah and their basis of operation in the bekaa valley, and as jet fighters were about to take off, your then Secretery of Defense late Mr Caspar Weinberger, contradicting the order of his Commander in Chief ordered the troops to stand off. - as for the foreign hostages that were kidnapped, by their own words confirmed that they were not tortured. - remember also the Iran-contra affair and the secret deliveries of weapons by the US to Iran. - remember also that in 1979, the Carter administration, along with the CIA played a major role in bringing down the Shah regime in Iran and the coming to power of Khomeini.(search the web for the "espionage den" and the "state department white paper" documents, you might get some education). - remember the Iran-Irak war (1980-1988) and the secret deliveries by US and UK of chemical weapons to both sides so they can erradicate themselves (by the way this war was an attempt by the USA to do damage control on their flop in Iran) - remember that Osama ben Laden was recruited and trained by the CIA in 1985 and sent to afghanistan as a field asset to fight along the Afghan Moujahidin against the Russian troops. - Remember that in 1990, the Bush administration (Bush Senior) sold out Lebanon to the Syrian in return of their contribution to the war effort in Desert Storm.

But before pointing fingers for something that happened 24 years ago you should be aware of all the state terrorism that came from the US: In 1973 for example the CIA helped topple a democratically elected government and install a military dictatorship in Chile, thousands were killed. By your standards that would give the Chileans every right to strike against the "terrorist" USA...

Sam, I agree. Isreal has been irresponsible. The Lebanese Government has been restrained and have not released their soldiers. The Bush Administration has allowed this irreposible destruction to take place therefore, we, Americans, should not pay to repair the destruction that has taken place. All aid to Isreal should be discontinued, set aside, and used to restore Lebanon.
What is wrong with the Lebanese Government? Can't they see that Israel is about to take their country? Why are they holding back their army? And, what do you think will happen to all of you governmental leaders when this is over? If I were a Lebanese citizen, I would throw all of Lebanese governmental official out of office after this ends. After all, they sat back and watched Israel kill innocent women and children and destroy your country and did nothing.
There is NO government. The so called "government" are just a bunch of talking clowns. The real government of Lebanon is Hezbollah: they decide when to start the war, etc. The rest of the Lebanon is just a theatrical decorations.

1. The pictures are from bridges. Has anybody ever seen a terrorist bridge? 2. The guys who get hit are not the ones who have picked the fight. 900 Lebanese civilians of which one third are children have died, but only a small number of Hezbollah. The Israeli are frustrated that they can't find the Hezbollah fighters, so they bomb the civilans and the infrastructure.
1. If bridge can be used by terrorists it is a legitimate target. Unless lebanese government can ensure, that terrorists are not allowed to use the bridge... but there is no real government in Lebanon... OOPS! ...Bridge is gone.
2. To demonstrate faces of POWs, and dead bodies is against Geneva Convention. Thats why Hezbullah can do this, but Israel can't. I've told you already: try to find real books.

It's a state policy....read this from 'Pity The Nation' written by Robert Fisk: 'By1970 the Isaelis were retaliating deep into Lebanon,usually against civilian targets and always with results quite out of proportion to the original attack.Thus,for example, when Palestinian rocket fire and a mine explosion had killed 2 civilians and 2 soldiers,the Iraelis shelled the town of Hasbaya,killing 48 people and wounding another 45.It was another pattern that would be expanded,developed and perfected with ferocity over the coming 15 years' ...page 74. I just want to make the comment that Lebanon DOES NOT SUPPORT HIZbELLAH...lebanon is a fun loving country...the lebanese do not welcome war or the killling of civilians THEY CONDEMN IT...for all the ignorant people who continue to say well why didnt lebanon just get Hizbellah out its because LEBANON COULDNT....look at lebanon in the past 3 years...almost every single politician who spoke out against hizbellah/syria was killed in a car bomb attack.
