first the brain drain... now this.
Nagi Boustany (Vocals/Bass), Jeff Dahdah (Drums) and Elie Richa (Guitar) formed the Walrus Hype in 2006.
Throughout a year and half, the band trained and built up the repertoire in anticipation of concert appearances.
Incidents and various setbacks postponed the anticipated event, until this June 2008 when drummer Jeff got his emigration visa to Canada, bound to permanently leave next September.
A 3 month training course for guitarist Elie due to leave on the morning of Saturday July 12th forced the band’s hand and imposed the night of July 11th as the last possible date for the 3 members to go public.
Hence the concert date fixed, and the unusual double-event will finally take place: The opening and farewell concert of the Walrus Hype who –as destiny would have it- will most probably never play together again...

You heard it first on Blogging Beirut!
This Summer is going to be the Summer of all Summers,
the Paris of the Middle East, the Pearl of the Orient...
The politicians have made peace, here's the agreement signed by all parties:
- The opposition tents will be dismantled
- Downtown Beirut will be reopened
- The current government will resign
- A president will be elected on Sunday
- A unity government will be formed
- The opposition will have veto power
- The 1960 elections law will be applied
The roads are clear and the sky is blue.

Syria & Iran have publicly stated their support for the agreement.
BBC News:
Western-backed ruling majority to get 16 cabinet seats and choose prime minister
Syrian-backed opposition to get 11 cabinet seats and veto power
Three cabinet seats to be nominated by president
The use of weapons in internal conflicts is to be banned
Opposition protest camps in central Beirut are to be removed
New law to divide country into smaller electoral districts
تقسيم دوائر بيروت: 10 للمزرعة، 5 للأشرفية 4 للباشورة
By tomorrow morning, you'll be able to drive up from Starco to Falafel Sahyoun for a quick sandweesh in less than 5 minutes. (yes, yes, the world does revolve around my appetite)
CAUTION: If you haven't booked your flight yet, then BOOK it NOW!
I can assure you, even guarantee, that all planes will be overbooked.
See you in Lebanon, for Summer 2008!
In other news, Syria and Israel have officially announced the resumption of Peace Talks with mediation provided by Turkey.
