I should make some like this and go stick them around Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
Although the Lebanese population here is very large, I know that quite a few of them feel like outcasts ... Mostly thanks to how biased the media reports are in the States.
From personal experience, I know that even the slightest positive gesture from a non-Lebanese does a lot to boost their morale in such a difficult time.
Something as simple as that makes me feel much better about the fact that there isn't much else I can do, too.
Cover, how? Cover by stickers ... Or by taking pictures, other things? Either way, sure.
I've been sitting here, reading various websites and hoping to come across one that mentions a demonstraion/protest/rally in the area ... But nothing, yet. So I am trying to figure out ways to go about getting something started myself. I don't have many connections and really don't know how to go about doing something like that, but it is worth a try.
to all in lebanon keep up the morale allah ma qon we all love you and are with you by spirit, i had written that my mother last week was very ill and could not be evacuated well her sould now is forever in lebanon along with that of my late father she passed last week in the end the doctors may say it was from her illness and stress but i think it was from a broken heart. we will overcome brothers and sisters together again we will live and be happy in our country we can survive the worst of times we have done it before so many have moved back and rebuilt and i for one believe in our undying resiliance. we need the powers that are ie narallah us israel syria iran leb gov etc to wake up and get something done and fast, the damage is bad but weve seen and been through worse but enough is enough!!! war begets war hatred begets more hatred maybe its time for cedar revolution now is the time to wave the flag and be proud now is the time for those media cameras to be showing our peacfull side what we demand a future for our country our citizens we have been too long at the mercy of any one factions whims or countries demands its time for the peoples freedom and a mandatory demand for peace.
Awesome idea - I wonder if we can get enough people to start posting them on the TTC/subway cars etc , I'll start taking my camera into work incase I see any up!
If anyone uses them on the net, though, please just save them to a Photobucket account. I don't have much bandwith left for my account.
Also, feel free to change them up and do whatever.
I'm looking for easy ways to go about making stickers. There are things you can buy at craft stores to print them onto ... Usually they'll tell you what you need to download to print them.
There are iron-on transfers people can get to make t-shirts, as well.
One more thing to add ... If people don't have extra money to spend to print these onto stickers, go totally DIY and print them out and place a piece of clear packing tape over it.
Just make sure to get the entire paper covered and leave enough extra tape around the edge to be able to stick it to things. That way it won't get ruined if it rains.
Hi everyone, congrats to Finkployd for hosting this site, simply a fantastic initiative. Also the stickers initiative discussed here is really original, I can cover Brussels and Antwerp as well as Miami once I arrive there
By the way, this war is illegal. " Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War was VIOLATED. " - Human Rights Watch
Free Lebanon, demand nothing but an immidiate ceasefire!
If we make home-made I love beirut stickers, we could put bloggingbeirut.com somewhere on it.. spread the word even more..then we'd also know we have friends in the communities we're in.
HERE ARE THE LAYOUTS http://www.indymedia.org/en/2006/08/843955.shtml
Sorry - for now its only the GIF versions for A4 paper
(here's a really stupid question: how do you get your name
from the file-information of adobe illustrator files???
I didn't add the blogging beirut adress because I actually copied the
heart from "I love NY" - can they sue you for copyright violation???
Well that sounds crazy but in the USA you never know...
Anyway: I just "found" those on the internet... ;-)
Fink,
Thankyou so much!
If the planet is going to be covered with these Lebanon sitckers, Then I can cover the Portland, Oregon area to help out! Its time for me to stop reading Internet articles about this war and actually do something about it! I'll send you pictures and keep you updated!
uhhh...HELP???
Your website is in French. I figured out the list of months, beyond that I'm lost. Where is the sticker with the blogginberuit website? I found it in the top banner but I can't copy it.
Thanks!
check out this blog www.thelebanonchronicles.blogspot.com. There is a graphic for "I heart beirut". I printed up some stickers at my local copy store it was pretty easy and not that expeansive, if you have your own color printer or photocpier it is even easier. Just get some labels or sicky paper from staples.
good luck
Polish press too. Very warm words by the way.
