Is it not sad that the rahbani family has not published 2 hand piano notes of their songs as a way of anchoring that music in the minds of the new generation.
Now more than ever before, young people are learning to play music particularly piano.
Where are the notes that would make us play the music we grew up listening to ? kidash kan fi nas, kifak inta, dakkayt etc.......
why do they celebrate their art differently in the west ? you can find piano notes of Elton John, Nora Jones, Maria Carey etc .....
when are we going to copy the good traits of the western culture,
Publish those notes, let that music become our daily dream, let it remain part of our lives . Do not let the new generation call it " the old stuff"
yara,
i'd have to agree with you there. however, i am not sure it is a matter of them not publishing the piano notes.
but rather a difference in culture, where there is no 'need' to publish the notes.
i see this changing gradually, as ziad has just released a DVD of one of his best theatrical plays, Sahriyye. you can buy it at Virgin Megastore.
it will come... for now, just press play and sing along :)
I'm with you of what you saying, however, I have to remind Lara, that the musical notes most of the time published by the production companies, and as we know in lebanon and the arab countries, notes, books, cd etc.. is not respected as a copy right.nor there is a mechanism to penalise the intuders
Good trait of the western culture did not come form a wish, it was a long process of building institution set the mechanism to enforce the law
Gussmoro,
I found Yara comments very valid and I don't agree with your reply.
I have 2 kids learning piano and they always ask to play some of Fairouz songs on piano because they love Fairouz.
After a while they will not ask and they will just forget about these beautiful songs and music.
