Original saying goes:
Sois belle et tais toi translates to Be beautiful and shut up this one goes: Sois belle et vote translates to Be beautiful and vote Slogan is used in a new billboard campaign for the 2009 lebanon elections. Some find it demeaning and degrading, while others think its empowering and enlightening. why they don't put a half naked man with great abs and muscles.. why it is always women..it is not like I am against this billboard in particular.. it is just I don't like the idea of ALWAYS using women in every add or billboard , it is degrading.. we are not sex objects..
Sex object ?!?!?
HOW do you see her to be a sex object ? The picture is totally decent without any reference to the female body parts that would normally be considered "sex objective" . Do you consider the look and the smile to be "sexual" ? The slogan is "sois belle ET VOTE" , dont forget the 'VOTE' part , the greatest way for a female to give her democratic OPINION. By saying this Add is "degrading" and females a "sex object", you are totally contradicting the whole purpose of the billboard ... telling women to be beautiful (strong, self confident, independent ) and vote for who THEY ( not their men ) think should be elected.
The look is seductive, it's hardly deniable. The inviting backward glance, the beautiful round naked shoulder, the parted lucious lips, the wispy untamed hair ...
However, Kiblan does make a point.
I think it's actually a very smart ad and anyone complaining about it is actually jealous that they didn't think of it first.
It's the sad truth, sex sells - so why not. p.s this is so typical Lebanese ;)
I think it's a great ad, if some women think that it is offensive they really have a psychological problem
i hope Aoun wins they just wait for tayyar to do something in order to reply or comment they just have nothing to do but to wait for these smart people |
