In 1982, the Israeli Army massacred its way into Beirut.
Soon thereafter, at a burger joint in Hamra, known as Wimpy's, a Lebanese man shot an Israeli Occupation Soldier point blank.
well for history's sake, Alwan was there and saw the audacity of the occupying soldiers insist on paying with Shekels to which the waiter refused to accept. So Alwan calmly stood up shot the officer and calmly walked away...the rest is history just like the Wimpy's neighbor across the street, the Modca. Shame that there was no one protesting this closure like the Modca, I remember before Jack Jones opened there was a huge turnout of people in solidarity with the legendary cafe. [sarabmajaz]
Immediately thereafter, the mighty Israeli Occupation Forces hastily packed their bags as Israeli Vehicles equipped with Loudspeakers repeated,
"We are leaving. Stop shooting us."
It took One Lebanese man, One Bullet, and Wimpy's to send the mighty Israeli Army packing.
Today, I heard that this very Wimpy's on Hamra Street is going to be closed down,
to be replaced by a clothing store...
what is this country coming to????
